In a scathing attack, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of planning to imprison opposition leaders. Kejriwal made the allegations at a press conference in the national capital on Wednesday, adding that Modi is "scared of his political rivals and wants to silence them by putting them behind bars."

The Delhi CM's comments sparked immediate reactions from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has dismissed his claims as baseless. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Kejriwal of spreading lies and trying to create fear among the masses. "The Prime Minister has always respected the opposition and has never resorted to such tactics," Patra said.

Kejriwal's allegations come amid a series of investigations and arrests involving opposition leaders. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently launched a probe into Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case, while the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee in a money laundering case.

Opposition parties have condemned the government's actions, accusing it of using investigative agencies to target political opponents. They have alleged that the BJP-led government is trying to muzzle dissent and stifle criticism.

The Prime Minister's Office has not yet responded to Kejriwal's allegations. However, sources close to Modi have dismissed the claims as "absurd and baseless."
